Royal yacht Al Said was ordered in 1969 and commissioned as the navy's first ship in 1971. In 1983-1984 she was rebuilt, receiving new accommodation arrangements, communication and EW suit and armament. Helicopter deck was enlarged. After conversion Al Mabrukah was rerated as fleet training ship. In 1997 she was reclassified as corvette.
