Project history

A Schichau destroyer built for China, this vessel was captured at Taku 17.6.1900 with the sisters which were allocated to Germany, Russia and France, by Roger Keyes. Though reputed to have done 32kts on trial when first completed her service speed was well below this, and she did not compare very well with contemporary British destroyers. Her accommodation was particularly bad. She spent her life on the China station.
