Project history

Purpose-built minelayers. They were ordered in Italy under the 1935 programme. 1935 Despite the modest dimensions, they had good seaworthiness and considerable mine capacity. Mines were carried on two rails on upper deck at all ship length.

Modernizations

early 1950s, both: + 2 x 1 - 20/70 Mk 10

1960s, both presumably: + radar

Naval service

Both ships served more than 40 years.
