Project history

65ft MTB of Thornycroft. Q111 was ordered at the initiative of General McArthur in 1937 and laid down by Thornycroft 15.4.1938. Boat completed trials in April, 1939 and shipped to Philippines in June, 1939. Letter Q in boats numbers was given by McArthur in honour of president of Philippines Manuel Louis Quezon. Structurally Q111 represented development of typical 55ft Thornycroft MTB, but differed by increased dimensions and installing of deck torpedo tubes. Stepped wooden hull.
