Authorized under FY 90 budget. Used as a coast guard officer cadet training ship at Kure Academy. Officially of the "3,000-ton" class. The after deck serves as a helicopter platform and ceremonial/exercise space; there is no hangar. FLUME-type water-tank stabilization is fitted.
