Rather cheap multi-purpose ships (Mehrzwecke Fahrzeuge) for actions in an inshore waters, could be used as escorts, anti-submarine ships or minesweepers. They had original machinery: one diesel worked through a reduction gear on 2 shafts. In 1943 12 units were ordered but building of only 4 was begun and only lead ship was completed.
None.
MZ1 was never fully commissioned by German navy, her trials were incomplete when war ended. In 1945 MZ1 was captured by British troops, her further fate is unknown.
