Project history

Single-hull submarines designed by M Petithomme. Ten planned in the 1904 programme (first 4 have been built in Cherbourg, 3 in Rochefort and last 3 in Toulon), but only first two were ordered on 8 October 1904 and laid down. Construction stopped in March 1908. Numbers Q 51-Q 58, reserved for Guêpe 3 to Guêpe 10, were assigned later lo the Pluviôse class (1905 programme).
