Project history

In early 1942 Britain has transferred to the USA 10 corvettes of "Flower" class, reclassified in the USN as gunboats (PG62-71). Simultaneously in Canada 15 more ships under the advanced project have been ordered. Only eight ships of 2nd group were accepted by the USN, as by their time of completion necessity for foreign-built ships (which else were should to equip additionally to the standards accepted in the American Navy) has disappeared. Remaining seven (PG88, 90, 91 and 97-100) have been transferred to Royal Navy by lend-lease.
