Project history
18pdr frigates, 38 guns (fifth rate), reclassed as 46-gun in 1817. Designed to the lines of the Hebe, a French prize taken in 1782.
Modernizations
1846, Amphitrite, 1847, Trincomalee: were cut down to 26-gun corvettes and armed with: 10 x 1 - 204/13 8'' 65cwt shell SBML, 2 x 1 - 194/16 56pdr 87cwt SBML, 8 x 1 - 163/18 32pdr 56cwt SBML, 4 x 1 - 159/8 32pdr carronades, complement 240
Naval service
Leda wrecked at the entrance to Milford Haven 31.1.1808. Pomone wrecked on the Needles 14.10.1811. Diamond accidentally burnt at Portsmouth 18.2.1827. Thetis wrecked 5.12.1830 off Cape Frio, Brazil.
