Project history

General purpose frigate, highly automated and proved successful in service. Fitted as flagship.

Modernizations

1988: - LW-04 radar, type 170B, type 162, MS27 sonar; + DA-05 radar, DSQS-21C sonar (Limbo ASWRL became nonoperational), SEWACO CCS

1993: - 1 x 4 Sea Cat SAM, M44 radar; + 2 x 1 - 40/60 Mk 3

1997: - 2 x 1 - 40/60; + 1 x 2 - 40/70 OTO-Breda Compact, 2 x 1 - 20/90 GAM-B01, 2 x 3 - 324 PMW49A TT (6 Stingray), ZW-06 radar, WLR-1, Newton ECM suites, 2x Mk 135 decoy RL

Naval service

Makut Rajakumarn was badly damaged by fire in February 1984 and was later repaired and modernized till 1988.
