Project history

Former USN Anchorage class landing ship-dock. Like their Thomaston class predecessors, they have a removable helicopter deck, no helicopter maintenance facilities, and limited troop space (375 men). The 131.1x15.2m well deck accommodates three LCU or nine LCM (8) or about fifty LVT. Sister-ship Fort Fisher was offered to Taiwan but was not accepted.

Modernizations

None.

Naval service

No significant events.
