Project history

Domestic design KSSIII, batch I. Submarines will be equipped with AIP and armed with Cheong Ryong cruise (Batch I) or Hyonmoo-2 short-range ballistic (Batch II) missiles. Batch II will also have 10 vertical silos instead of 6 on batch I. Submarines of Batch III will revert to 6 silos but can receive nuclear propulsion.
