Coastal (inshore) auxiliary minelayers. Under 1915-1917FY Estimates 13 ships were converted from standard tenders. Among themselves they were slightly differed.

Enoshima 14.10.1944 was sunk at Formosa by US carrier aircraft. Toshima was sunk at Maizuru 30.7.1945 by US carrier aircraft. Ento 15.1.1945 was hard damaged at Formosa by US carrier aircraft. Ashizaki and Kurosaki foundered during a storm at coast of Japan 17 and 18.11.1945 respectively.
Katashima and Kuroshima in 1947 were transferred on a reparation to the USSR and China respectively.
Katoku in 1948 became patrol ship of JMSDF.
