First Japanese purpose-built minelayer. Ordered under the 1915-16 programme. Had 4 wooden gallows for minelaying and minesweeping.

Katsuriki was used as survey vessel from 1936 but officially reclassified only in 1942. Katsuriki was sunk 21.9.1944 SW off Manila by US submarine Haddo.
