Project history Although

Although initially described as 'Improved Impavidos', these ships showed little resemblance to their predecessors. They incorporated the new SADOC computer combat direction system, which enormously increased their capability, and a large helicopter hangar aft (for two AB-212 or one SH-3D). The gun battery consisted of the new Italian-made lightweight 127mm/54 and the new Compact 76mm/62 The four tubes for 533mm wire-guided torpedoes tired aft over the stern.
