Project history

Sa'ar 4 class. Development began towards the end of 1968. An expansion of the building ships at Haifa enabled rapid construction of the next six units ordered in 1975. Excellent seaboats with large endurance at cruising speed. Can be rigged for ASW, with EDO780 dipping sonar at the stern in place of 76mm mount and one triple 324mm Mk 32 TT on the port side, missile complement in this case reduced to 2 Harpoons and 4 Gabriels.
