Project history

Experimental submarines of construction of G. Walter with hydrogen peroxide turbines used H2O2 as oxidizer. Using of non-standard fuel-oxidizer mix, known as "Walter-Treibstoff", theoretically allowed to increase strongly submerged machinery power of submarine and submerged speed, allowing to use diesel oil in submerged position.

First built was experimental V80, shown submerged 28kts speed, but appeared too uneconomical. V80 was stricken in the end of 1942 and 29.3.1945 scuttled at Hel. She was followed by experimental V300, included to fleet list as U791, but never completed.
