Project history

Ms type boats based on the U65, and built by Germaniawerft. War order F. They had the standard operational depth of 50m and a diving time of 50 seconds.

Naval service

U81 was torpedoed by British submarine E54 in Atlantic 1.5.1917. U83 was sunk by gunfire of British decoy vessel Farnborough 17.2.1917 in the ATlantic. U84 was rammed by British patrol boat P62 in the Irish Sea 26.1.1918. U85 was sunk by gunfire of British decoy vessels Privet in the English Channel 12.3.1917.
