Project history

Ex-torpedo steamer No IV, the Ulan was like a large two-funnelled tug, and was rebuilt almost as soon as completed to take a 381mm bow TT and 3 revolving 37mm cannons.

Modernizations

1878: - spar torpedo; + 3 x 5 - 37/27 RV L/30, 1 - 381 TT (bow)

Naval service

She was used for research, then as a torpedo school tender until converted to a barge in 1909. She was sold as such in 1919, and broken up in 1926.
