Project history

The Greif, a larger version of the Blitz design but without the torpedo armament, represents a further step in the evolution of the light cruiser. With her ram bow, three funnels and low silhouette she bears a distinct resemblance to much later vessels. However she does not seem to have been successful in service as she was given little employment.
