Project history

A group of wooden-hulled ships, mostly barque-rigged without royals and differing in detail. The 165mm gun or one of the 139mm guns was mounted on the forecastle with a 139mm on a raised platform aft and the others on the broadside. Beautemps-Beaupré and Bourayne had tripod foremasts.

Modernizations

Naval service

Dayot was lost in a cyclone at Tamatave 28.2.1888.
