Project history

100-gun two-deckers, designed to fill the gap between new French standard 90-gun Suffren class and 120-gun three-deckers. Agamemnon and Hector were cancelled in 1828. Wooden hull.

Modernizations

1847-1849, Hercule, Jemmapes: + 8 x 1 - 163/8 30pdr SBML carronades

1858, Tage, Duguay Trouin: were converted to screw ships with data as given in the table

1859, Turenne: was converted to screw ship with data as given in the table

Naval service

Henry IV was blown ashore and lost 14.11.1854 in a storm at Eupatoria (Crimea).
