Project history

Successful multi-purpose minesweepers-minelayers, thanks to shallow draught could operate safely enough in areas with raised mine danger.

Modernizations

1950s, Ruotsinsalmi: was rearmed with 2 x 1 - 40/60 Mk 7, 2 x 1 - 20/70 Mk 7, 100 mines, radar; diesels were replaced by 2 MAN (1200hp, 15kts)

Naval service

Riilahti S of Tiiskeri 23.8.1943 was attacked by three Soviet MTBs and sunk by torpedo from MTB No94.
