Project history

First two units ordered in 2005 for EEZ patrol, based on Fassmer OPV 80 design by Fassmer Werft shipbuilders, Berne, Germany. Third unit was laid down in 2012 and is with a strengthened hull for light ice breaking and Arctic operations. All have steel hull and superstructure with aluminum pilothouse construction. Fitted with antirolling tank, medium-sized helicopter hangar, and 4t deck crane. Carry two 7.4m Pumar AR740 RIBs under single point davits with boats stowed in superstructure recesses. Employ signature reduction methods to reduce radar cross section.

Modernizations

None.
