Project history

Armed trawlers classified as corvettes. They were built at Niteroi under order of the Great Britain, made in 1941, but 24.8.1942, during building, were transferred to Brazilian Navy.

Modernizations

None.

Naval service

Barreto de Menezes was lost 4.11.1954 as result of navigating accident. Vidal de Negreiros and Henrique Dias in 1955 were converted to survey vessels. Remaining ships in 1952-1953 were transferred to merchant marine, have passed re-equipment and further were used basically as trawlers.
