Project history

Oyapock was former revenue cutter Cidade de Belem, built in United Kingdom specially for actions on the rivers around border with French Guiana. 4.11.1908 she was transferred to Navy as an exchange for transfer of avizo Tocantins to Ministry of Finance. In April, 1909 she was transferred to Mato Grosso flotilla and renamed Oyapock (in the literature often there is erroneous writing Oiapoque). In 1926 she was re-rated as gunboat.
