Project history

This class (Project SEA 1444), a replacement program for the Fremantle class, was instituted in 1998 upon cancellation of Offshore Patrol Combatant. There are no helicopter operations capabilities, but 2 7.2m RIBs are carried at the stern.

Naval service

Bundaberg was badly damaed by wrecking 11.8.2014 and was stricken 18.12.2014. Maryborough was wrecked 26.5.2017 but salvaged and repaired.
