In 1909 Patagonia was reconstructed as survey vessel armed with 1 152/40mm, 1 120/40mm and 8 76/40mm guns. In 1919 she was rebuilt and fitted with 500hp oil-fired machinery, ship carried 263t of oil and made 10kts maximum.
