Project history

Shallow-draught patrols for coastal and riverine service. They were built in Italy, the Uruguayan flag on all three was raised 10.9.1935, all arrived to Montevideo 9.2.1936. In practice armament varied.

Modernizations

by 1937, all: were armed with 2 x 1 - 76/40 Ansaldo 1917, 2 x 1 - 47/40 Hotchkiss, 2 x 1 - 6.5/80

late 1960s, Salto: was armed with 1 x 1 - 40/60 Mk 3, radar

Naval service

Salto served more than 63 years.
