Wooden-hulled 2nd class gunvessels, 5 guns. Enlarged Algerine class. Rye, Portia and Discovery were cancelled in 1863 before they were laid down.

Naval service

Griffon collided with gunvessel Pandora off Little Popo in West Africa 2.10.1866 and stranded.
