Project history
10-gun brigs, the only brigs with 18pdr carronades on their broadside. Design of Henry Peake approved in 1807. Halcyon, Hyaena (ex-Calypso), Foxhound, Helena were cancelled. Forester, Griffon were reordered as another class. Alban, Carron, Columbia, Confiance, Dee, Echo were reordered as paddle steamer before they were laid down.
Modernizations
1831, Brisk: as brigantines were armed with 1 x 1 - 161/15 32pdr 40cwt SBML, 2 x 1 - 145/8 24pdr 10cwt SBML carronades, complement 50
1833, Falcon: converted to steam sloop, reconverted to sailing brig in 1834.

Achates wrecked off Guadeloupe 7.2.1810. Parthian wrecked off Alexandria 15.5.1828. Briseis wrecked on Point Pedras (Cuba) 5.11.1818. Jasper wrecked in a gale at Plymouth Sound 20.1.1817. Ephira wrecked in Cadiz Bay 26.12.1811. Wild Boar wrecked on the Runnelstone (Scilly Isles) 15.2.1810. Drake wrecked on E end of St. Shott's near Cape Race (Newfoundland) 22.6.1822. Bermuda wrecked on Tampico Bar 16.11.1816. Rhodian wrecked at Port Royal harbour 21.2.1813. Sarpedon wrecked on Norwegian coast 1.1.1813. Delight foundered 23.2.1824 off Port Louis, Mauritius. Jasper wrecked off Santa Maura (Levkas) 13.10.1828. Partridge wrecked by stranding in the Texel 28.11.1824. Algerine was lost, presumably foundered in the Mediterranean Sea 9.1.1826. Rapid wrecked off Tunisia 12.4.1838. Wizard wrecked at Berehaven in Bantry Bay 8.2.1859.
