Project history

Very similar to the 'Ham' class, composite-built with aluminium alloy framing and wooden planked hulls. The programme was cut short with the cancellation of Edgeley. They survived longer than the 'Ham' type because they were re-equipped for minehunting, minus sweep gear; all were either reduced to training or had been sold by the mid 1970s.
