Project history

18pdr frigates, 36 guns (fifth rate), reclassified as 42/44-gun in 1817. Designed by Sir John Henslow.

1831, Aigle: was cut down to 26-gun 6th rate corvette with armament consisted of 6 x 1 - 204/13 68pdr 65cwt shell SBML, 2 x 1 - 194/16 56pdr 85cwt SBML, 12 x 1 - 162/17 32pdr 50cwt SBML, 6 x 1 - 160/11 32pdr 25cwt SBML

1839, Aigle: was armed with 2 x 1 - 204/12 8'' 52cwt shell SBML, 2 x 1 - 162/17 32pdr 50cwt SBML, 20 x 1 - 161/15 32pdr 40cwt SBML

Naval service

Resistance wrecked on Portuguese coast near Cape St. Vincent 31.5.1803.
