Ordered in 1990. Planned to deliver both in July 1991 but were delayed by German embargo on the engines. Nearly complete, Ho Hsing capsized 18.8.1991 in a typhoon and was salvaged. Have accommodations for two senior personnel in addition to listed crew. Very similar to US Coast Guard Bear-class 270-ft cutters but carry no heavy armament and substitute four high-speed interceptor craft in individual davits (two per side) for a helicopter facility. The eight interceptor craft were delivered in 1991 from Hood Military Vessels ol the USA: 12.2 m overall, six crew, two 300hp Cummins diesels driving Arneson outdrives for 35 kts, range: 466 nautical miles at 30 kts.
