Voted 1972, contracted 22.3.1973. Submarines were built jointly by Kockums and Karlskronavarv, Näcken and Neptun were launched by cranes.. They had Kollmorgen periscopes, two decks and 'tear-drop' hull shape. Data Saab IPDS system used two Censor 932 computers to give engine and tactical information. Attack submarines, A14 type.
1988-4/1989, Näcken: AIP propulsion was installed (1030/1300t, 57.5x5.70x4.10m, additionally to main machinery 2 Stirling V4-275 AIP generators, 200hp, endurance submerged can be 14 days)
Näcken was transferred on leasing to Danemark as Kronborg, returned in December 2014 but Swedish navy refused her recommission and she was laid up till scrapping in 2015-2016.
