Ship project history: Designed by Lt Isaac Peral y Caballero. She dived and surfaced using ballast tanks and vertical screws, below the cigar-shaped hull fwd and aft. The motors were powered by accumulators, and two spare Schwarzkopf torpedoes could be carried.
