Ship project history: Iron-hulled gunboats with a single funnel and light schooner rig.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: El Cano and General Lezo participated in Battle of Manila Bay 1/5/1898, both were sunk by USN ships but El Cano was later salvaged by Americans and served under USN flag as Elcano. General Concha wrecked 11/6/1913 off Moroccan coast.
