Project history

Generally very similar to US Knox class, but with medium-range Tartar-Standard system replaced helicopter facilities and BPDMS. Hulls and machinery were fabricated in Spain, but the USN supplied weapons and sensors. All torpedo tubes were fitted internally and fixed, the 324mm being inclined at 45°, while the 533m were in the stern.
