Project history

Built in Spain by "La Carraca" under drawings of German S38 class, Spanish designation of project is LT-40. Licence agreement with "Lürssen" was signed 24.6.1942, building of 10 boats was authorised by the decree from 30.3.1944, first two boats were laid down in 1944. Because of the cessation of deliveries of materials from Germany and absence of boatbuilding experience building was extremely delayed. Six boats (LT27-32), for which Germans had time to deliver motors in wartime, were completed only in 1953-59. Remaining four boats were suspended in 1958 and ultimately cancelled 11.5.1962.
