Project history

Black Sea Fleet. Originally named Yaroslavl', the Pamiat' Merkuriya was a barque-rigged, unprotected steel and iron cruiser with a projecting ram bow. She was reckoned to be a good sea-boat. The 6in guns were without shields, and were located at bow and stem with four in upper deck sponsons.

Modernizations

1890s: - 4 x 1 - 107/17, 1 x 1 - 44/41, 2 - 381 TT; + 2 x 1 - 63/17 Baranovski, 4 x 1 - 47/40 Hotchkiss, 2 x 1 - 37/20 Hotchkiss

Naval service

Pamiat' Merkuriya was stricken in 1907 but recommissioned as a hulk in 1915 and was broken up only in 1939.
