First two submarines were ordered 11.4.1924, following pair 11.10.1926. Each pair cost was 3.100.000$. It was planned to build six submarines, but means for building of R5 and R6 were not assigned. As commission dates dates of arrival to Callao were signed. Medium saddle-tank-hull submarines of Holland design, close on construction to USN R class.
