Project history

Former Japanese torpedo boat Kashi of Momo class, transferred to Manchukuo as patrol ship, without TTs and with changed artillery (originally carried 3 120mm/45 guns and 2 triple 450mm TTs). In this time because of machinery deterioration speed has fallen from initial 31.5 to 15 kts. Authentic data about new armament structure is absent; probably, except 2 120mm guns, Hai Wei carried some MGs and DCs.

Modernizations

None.

Naval service

In 1942, owing to heavy ships losses, Japanese returned the ship to themselves and commissioned her as Kaii. She was sunk 10.10.1944 at Okinawa by American carrier aircraft.
