Project history

Originally ordered in 2003. Though launched in 2005, the ship was the subject of numerous political, economic and technical disputes prior to the reaching of agreement for purchase in April 2012: standby crew returned to Kenya in July 2005 and the ship was laid up near La Coruña for six years. Can be used also for survey and hydrographic duties.
