Project history

Wa101 group (Wa101-103, 105) were laid down on Dutch India yards as police boats of "FG" class for colonial administration. 2.3.1942 hulls were blown up on slipways by Dutches. Subsequently they were completed by Japanese.

Wa104 group (Wa104, 106, 107) were former Dutch police boats, scuttled by crews 2.3.1942. They were salvaged and commissioned by IJN.

Modernizations

None.

Naval service

Wa101 was lost on mine 13.10.1943 near Madura, subsequently she was raised and commissioned again, 17.5.1945 she was destroyed in dock at Surabaya by US carrier aircraft, returned to Netherlands in unrepaired condition, later repaired and transferred to Indonesia in 1950. Wa105 was sunk 25.5.1945 by British submarine Trenchant off Java. Wa104 was sunk 12.4.1945 by British submarine Stygian SW off Bali.
