Project history

Authorized under the 1954 programme, Hayabusa had a unique machinery arrangement with a gas turbine on the centre shaft.

Modernizations

1972: gas turbine was removed (4000hp, 20kts).

Naval service

She was converted to a yacht (ASY91) at Yokohama Yacht Co in 1977-78, when she was disarmed and new enlarged superstructure added. Painted white overall, she was deleted in 1987.
