Aircraft facilities

Aircrafts were stored in holds.

Project history

Former s/s Lethington of W. R. Rea Shipping Co., built in Britain in 1901. In days of the Russian-Japanese war she was chartered by the Russian Government, but 12.1.1905 captured by Japanese torpedo boat No72 as a prize. In 1908 she was leased to NYK Line. In 1914 during conversion she was equipped by two light hangars. Later number of aircrafts was increased to 10.

Modernizations

1920: flying-off deck for Sopwith Pup fighters was fitted.

Naval service

Re-rated from transport to seaplane carrier in April, 1920. Placed in reserve and used as cargo vessel from 1924.
