Project history

USN river gunboat Luzon was scuttled at Corregidor 6.5.1942, salvaged by Japanese, repaired and 1.8.1942 entered service as Karatsu.

Modernizations

None.

Naval service

3.3.1944 Karatsu was damaged by US submarine Narwhal and has sunk as result of earlier received damages at Manila 3.2.1945.
