These very small boats, designed by Eng Vice Admiral Edgardo Ferrati and built at La Spezia N Yd, were conceived for the defence of some Adriatic harbours, such as Venice, Ancona, Brindisi. They were transportable by railway. They were not successful, had a very low endurance and their periscope was not retractable.
