Project history
PPA = Patrugliatore Polivalente d'Altura (alternative multimission patrol). 10 ships planned for replacement of old corvettes of Minerva and Cassiopea classes. Large ships, with frigate/destroyer displacement. There are three versions: Light (Nos 1, 2 and 9 ships), Light+ (Nos 3, 5, 6, 10) and Full (Nos 4, 7, 8), differed by armament and electronic equipment. 6 first ships were ordered 7.5.2015, seventh 11.11.2015. 11m RIB can launch via stern ramp, 2 15m LCVPs are carried on the davits. There is the area for 13 containers for additional equipment in two mission bays. Containers can be handled by 20t crane.
