Project history

Originally these ships were rated as protected cruisers, 4.6.1914 re-rated as scouts (esploratori). To the beginning of WWI they become outdated and could make no more than 20kts. Soon after Armistice Coatit became minelayer, and Agordat was re-rated as gunboat.

Ship protection

Only protective 20mm deck.
